I came home from school yesterday, and I happend to watch the Oprah show. I generally dont watch the television too much, except when it pertains to the news. Oprah, and the “Global Fund” are suppourting a new campaign called “Red”, also called “Product Red”. “Product Red” is made by Apple(Ipod Nano), Motorola, Converse, and the Gap. The money from buying these special “Product Red” items go to help women and children suffering from AIDS in Africa. Also other major supporters of this campaign are Alicia Keys, and Bono. Sometimes I wish that some of those so called famous rappers would do something like this for Africa, but it seems to me a good portion of their money goes in suppourting their image, and ego. Although I do know Jay-Z did a concert a couple days back in South Africa. It is a beautiful thing to see that the world is taking time in Africa.

salaam
just shows how lucky some of us are to be in good health yet we all take it for granted.

Brotherhood: It really does!
Celadoor: ~Cheers~ Im glad people are starting to realize that Africa has taken the back seat for many years when it has come to the media’s attention, let alone the world’s attention. Thanks for stoppin by!

Nice post
Africa is the forgotten continent. The colonialist raped the land and its people and then left leaving a huge hole which has been allowed to fester. The amount of money spent by the US on invading other nations could have been used to help the situation in Africa. Also I agree that these big rap stars when they visit Africa say that “they are hone” or that Africa is their “motherland” but they have no idea what it is to be AFRICAN. Spend less on the bling on their cars and more on the so called African brothers.

Salaams, Jay-Z was in SA for Fans and money… not any particualr cause ( Sponsored by Henieken) but you’re right not too many Rappers are doing much. they did a lot for Katrina, but that was in their own backyard.
We take far too much for granted.

Slmz
I really love that you posted this!
Indeed Africa has been wronged and forgotten- but that is even more reason for those of us who have feelings for this land and its people, to give back, to try and solve the problems!
May Allah guide and help us…

K-Man: How true Africa is the forgotten continent, the U.S. no doubt could have took those billions of dollars they used to bomb other peoples countries, and money used for oil pipe lines into Africa. The early europeans ravaged Africa, took their people, not to mention their natrual resources including diamonds. Turned the people of Africa against each other so they were so busy fighting with one another they failed to notice that their own country was being depleted. Rappers make me irratated, they will spend 40,000 dollars on a car that automatically depriciates when it gets of the lot anyway, but fail to give a penny towards their brothers or sisters in their own native land. Thanks for visiting K-Man!
Muhammad: So Jay-Z only went to do a regular profitable concert, I figure thats what had happend but was not sure. Hmmm, what a shame. I guess most rappers helped in Katrina because the public eye was more closely on them, ecspecially since Kanye West made that conterversial comment.
Brotherhood: Hey bro I didnt even notice the triple O’s I will fix that!
Bilal: Thanks, and I guess if we all tried to give things would be much better. As my mom said to me once you should try to leave the world better, than when you came in.
Thanks everyone for your commets

Awesome! You’re right. People SHOULD focus more on poor African people suffering these conditions. Some celebrities completely lose their hearts with fame and focus on more money, more fame. Nice to know people actually care about other people.
